Dear fellow Wikipedians, My name is Deepesh Chaudhari. I am a Information Technology Engineering student from Pune University. I'm currently affiliated with a PES Modern College of Engineering,Pune for Wikipedia Campus ambassador program, but I'm also seeking out faculty in Pune and nearby area who may be interested in using Wikipedia as a teaching tool. There are many ways to contribute to Wikipedia--I like to edit and substantially revise existing articles, write new articles, and contribute free images. I started editing Wikipedia few years before, and I've been interested in using technology to promote the free dissemination of ideas. My interest in public policy topics is long-lived, too. I'm a latest addition to the Wikipedia group and have taken up the role as a Campus Ambassador in Pune to help further the use of Wikipedia among the various universities here. I'm a relative newbie to Wikipedia myself, so I'll be learning as much as many of you over the course of this program. What really got me to join this initiative is over the years, Wikipedia has enabled me to obtain free information about what I want, when I want it. I hope this culture of free knowledge for all is as appealing to you as it is to me and we can hopefully spread this message to as many as possible.
I work with a health magazine in Pune. Movie buff at heart, my acquaintance with Wikipedia too is largely thanks to the extensive movie pages. While this may not be the most noble or academic reason for wanting to be associated with the leading knowledge portal in the world, I do feel passionate about the wonderful cause that is Campus Ambassadors, and hope to do my bit to make it a success.
