A modifier letter left half ring (ʿ; U+02BF) is a character of the Unicode Spacing Modifier Letters range, used to transliterate ayin, representing the sound [ʕ]. It is encoded at U+02BF ʿ MODIFIER LETTER LEFT HALF RING.
