Total Request was a show on MTV. It was combined with another MTV show, MTV live, to create the hit show Total Request Live.

Unlike the current TRL, the original show was taped and didn't feature notable guests. The show MTV Live however, did have these elements. Neither show were particularly popular until they were combined. Both Carson Daly and Dave Holmes shared hosting duties originally.
