I just thought I'll let you know I am extremely unhappy with the situation regarding University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University. I asked for the removal of the creation block on the page only to restore it as a redirect. Instead, an article, which was already removed eight times (!), and thus set as a create block, is recreated. Granted, the article was last removed in 2008, when the block was set. But it looks awfully bad when an article is released from block for a redirect after three years, and immediately someone creates it. I am still not sure how to handle it. Articles regarding departments of universities are frowned upon in general, and I'm not sure this is different. It would required very strong establishment as a separate institute by reliable sources. --Muhandes (talk) 08:52, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your concern, but i must reiterate the fact that University Institute of Engineering and Technology is not a department but an 'Institute' with its own administrative powers. and it is considered as a separate institute. Kindly refer to the citations. The institute undoubtedly lies under the purview of Panjab University but it does not make it a department. UIET has more than 2000 students and 100 faculty members. Moreover, the rankings of UIET come as a separate college not as Panjab University. I wont hesitate to provide you any information you require as references, but you may need to be a bit more specific. Anshul Kashyap
