Scriptol

A programming language which does not establish his notability. There has been repeated spamming to the website in other articles like algorithm and programming language. Website has an Alexa rank of over 2 million and google turns up noting more than some directory listings. - From the IP address it seems that the WikiBook was written by the same person who wrote the article and keeps adding linkspam from www.scriptol.com/net/org. Google only returns 212 unique hits. —Ruud 16:24, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. This is a new language, just entered at Sourceforge. The number of users grows up quickly; consider the language itself, not only the number of open source projects: interpreted programs are all open source, but Scriptol is compiled to binary executables. Setting aside WP:NOT a crystal ball, I fail to see any features of this language that are even notable. Is it statically or dynamically and strongly or weakly typed? The 'new' control structures are hardly new. kotepho 09:45, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. Simtel displays more than 10000 downloads for the Scriptol compiler. Click here and search for Scriptol. I don't have the number of downloads from other repositories. I don't know how Ruud has found the number of 212 but has he performed a such search with other entries in Wikipedia? - Splang 08:40, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. On my user page I have made a comparison of the first programming languages in the alphabetical list on Wikipedia. It is clear that if Scriptol is not notable, 90% of programming languages are not, and should be deleted also.
