Compositio Mathematica (or simply Compositio) is an international mathematics journal created by Dutch mathematician L.E.J. Brouwer in the 1930's.[1] Since 2004 the journal has been published in cooperation with the London Mathematical Society.

The three managing editors are Dutch mathematicians Bas Edixhoven, B. J. J. Moonen, together with American mathematician Burt Totaro, who is based in the University of Cambridge.[2]

Early history

The journal was founded by Brouwer in response to his dismissal from Mathematische Annalen in 1928.[3] An announcement of the new journal was made in a 1934 issue of the American Mathematical Monthly.[4] In 1940 the publication of the journal was suspended due to German occupation of Holland.[3]
