Crime Classification Manual: A Standard System for Investigating and Classifying Violent Crimes (1992) is a book authored by John E. Douglas, Ann W. Burgess, Allen G. Burgess and Robert K. Ressler, and widely regarded as an authoritative text in classifying violent crimes. The result of a ten-year project conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime, the book is often described as a criminologist's answer to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
In 1994, the book was awarded the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts' award for "the most significant contribution to the literature of law enforcement intelligence".[1]
