Somos Distribution is a television content distribution company that offers premium quality content to television channels and TV programming providers on a global scale. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, the company aims to maximize the commercial potential of any content on traditional broadcast windows, cable, satellite, Pay-Per-View, Internet and video on demand.[1] According to TTVMedia News, Somos Distribution has sales partners in each of the major regions of the hemisphere.[2] The company is headed by Luis Villanueva, a recognized international television executive, and has close relations with its sister media company SomosTV.[3]

History

Somos Distribution was founded in 2009 by Luis Villanueva in response to a demand for distribution services from independent producers and television channels who wanted access to international markets as a way to maximize revenues from their productions and catalogs.[4] The company represents programming from several European major TV channels, Latin American channels, and television formats from Sparks Networks (a network of channels and independent producers of TV formats).[5]

Somos Distribution depends on a business model that provides competitive agreements to customers including sales and marketing support for their product in all distribution windows of the television business.[6] This includes Free TV, Pay TV, Video on Demand, Pay-Per-View, mobile and internet. The company provides solid coverage of the Americas, a region characterized as heterogeneous and hard to reach small-medium markets, together with pan regional players. Somos Distribution is a participant in major industrial markets of the Americas.[4] The company participates in NATPE, LA Screenings, CANITEC and other high visibility events that allows for client contact, content exposure, distribution, and marketing.[3]

Distribution/Content

Somos Distribution offers a catalog of content structured around popular genres such as movies, television formats, programs (such as episodic series), telenovelas (soap operas), variety shows, documentaries, sports and news, among others. This catalog represents content from their own production capacity as well as content of European and American companies, such as Telecinco, Antena 3, Cadenatres, DeAPlaneta, Expressive, Wanda Films, Splash News and others.[7][8][2]
