Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching
Appearance
The Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) [14] is a protocol suite extending MPLS to manage further classes of interfaces and switching technologies other than packet interfaces and switching, i.e., time division multiplex, layer-2 switch, wavelength switch and fiber-switch. GMPLS is composed of three main protocols: the Resource reSerVation Protocol with Tra±c Engineering extensions (RSVP-TE) signaling protocol [16, 17], the Open Shortest Path First with Tra±c Engineering extensions (OSPF-TE) routing protocol [18, 19], the Link Manage- ment Protocol (LMP) [20].
