History

The school was established in 2001 as a virtual learning capus as part of the Calgary Board of Education. Along with the traditional High School program at Ernest Manning High School, CBe-learn will be moving to the new Ernest Manning Campus in fall 2011.[1]

Online Programs

CBe-learn offers full Jr High and Sr High courses in an online environment, including core academic and complimentary courses. [2]

Online courses are offered through Desire2Learn a comprehensive tool that permits students to interact with course content, instructors and each other.[3]

Students and teachers interact online through web-based tools, or face-to-face during teacher office hours. [4]

Homeschooling

CBe-learn also offers a homeschooling option for students in grades 1 through 9. This teacher-supported homeschooling program allows families the option of a fully-homeschooled option[5], or a blended environment where certified teachers as well as parents act as the students' teachers.[6]

Career and Technology Centre

CBe-learn is affiliated with the Career and Technology Centre[7], which opened in fall 2010.[8] The Career and Technology Centre provides students the opportunity to access industry-standard equipment and training, in preparation for careers in a variety of technical fields.
