The List of Unicode radicals for CJK characters is an ongoing effort to synthesize the former components of modern day CJK characters into a complete list of components. This list is based on the system of 214 traditional radicals, used within the Kangxi dictionary (1716), but has been expanded to include known reductions (⽵→⺮) and local variations (龜、龟、⻲). Thus, it currently contains 214 + 116 = 330 components. These computer-based components are used, for example, as a basis to create Chinese fonts, or to create sets of data related to CJK characters, within battlefront technologies[clarification needed] such as the Chinese characters description languages.
