Ward's method is a class of criteria applied in hierarchical cluster analysis.

Ward's minimum variance method is a special case of the objective function approach originally presented by Joe Ward. Although Ward's method as originally proposed by Ward is more general, Ward's method typically refers to Ward's minimum variance method in the literature and in software.
