California Code of Civil Procedure
Appearance
The Code of Civil Procedure contains most California statutes that govern the filing of lawsuits, legal notices that must be given in a variety of circumstances, and many other procedural aspects of California civil law, including the statutes of limitations that govern how long a person has in which to commence a lawsuit. It is one of 29 codes that contain California statutes of general application.
The Code of Civil Procedure, like other codes, is frequently amended by legislation adopted by the California Legislature.
