A process design kit (PDK) is a set of files used within the semiconductor industry to model transistors for a certain technology for a certain foundry.

For example, the Cadence Virtuoso ships with 25 different PDKs.

Typical PDK contains:

  • standard cells library
  • design rules (DRC rules)
  • SPICE model of transistors
  • layout information (in GDSII)
