The consumption fuction calculates how much consumption is autonomous (not influenced by other factors like income) and how much is induced (influenced by the economies income level).

The consumption fuction is: C = c + mY

where C= total consumption, c= autonomous consumption, m= the marginal propensity to consume, and Y= income
