Androidport is a non-profit website started in 2010, dedicated to porting the Android operating system to the Samsung Wave S8500. Working together with similar projects like JetDroid, the members of this forum community collaborate to assemble a functional flavor of Android to replace the existing bada OS. The introduction of the site reads:
- "Welcome to Androidport.net, the web community founded to port Android OS to phones who lack this piece of luxury. We are very glad you have chosen our forum out of the many forums on the web. Our developers are currently very busy on the WaveDroid project; we are booting the Android Operating System to the Samsung Wave." [1]
Project WaveDroid (PWD)
The ultimate goal of Project WaveDroid is to have a fully functioning Android OS running on the Samsung Wave S8500 in order to take advantage of all the features that are included with the Android OS.
PWD Progress
Several developers are involved in the making of this project but progress has been slowed by the lack of availability of specialized software required to disassemble key components of the Wave's firmware. However, several experienced programmers and developers are hard at work dissecting the mobile handset and preparing for the end goal of Android.
