The International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS) brings together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry around the world to advance the theories and technologies of parallel and distributed systems. It was originally a regional conference in East Asia and held in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. Later it became an international conference sponsored by the Technical Committee on Parallel Processing and Technical Committee on Distributed Processing of the IEEE Computer Society. Professor Wen-Tsuen Chen of the National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan served as the founding General Chairman of the 1992 ICPADS and the Steering Committee Chairman of the conference since 1992 until he passed the position to Professor Nionel M. Ni of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2008.
