Ellis Library is the main library of the University of Missouri System located on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. It is the second largest research library in the state of Missouri and the 47th largest in the nation. It has previously played host to events such as a demonstration of Buddhist Sand Art. The State Historical Society of Missouri and Western Historical Manuscript Collection are located at the main branch of the library on Lowry Mall. Also located in the main branch of Ellis is the Bookmark Cafe, which is situated on the ground floor. Aside from providing study space and social space for students and faculty, Bookmark Cafe also displays works of art done by students in the university. These displays have primarily been paintings and photographs, and they are always accompanied by a date and name.
