My interests within the field of Linguistics include NLP and syntax. I am also interested in phonetics and phonology to the extent that they can help me learn languages.
I've been studying German for years now. For some time I've been trying to decide between Italian and Japanese as a third language, but lately I've developed an interest in Czech as well. It looks like a very painful and intimidating language, which is why I want to learn it. If you have any tips on Czech, or any resources for learning it, leave a note on my talk page.
I started using Wikipedia regularly in the summer of 2005. I was doing a damn near forensic analysis of every episode of House, and I found that the two most reliable and informative sites for obscure medical terms (ailments, drugs, etc) were emedicine.com and Wikipedia. These days I'm looking something up on Wikipedia, on average, every sixty minutes. This site is the realization of the Internet's true potential.
Wikipedia is, in fact, clearly superior to Google for most things. Google knows all, but Wikipedia understands all. (Furthermore, Wikipedia doesn't secretly record everything you search for and store the data in perpetuity - or do they?!)
