Methods in Ecology and Evolution is a scientific journal focused on advancing new methodologies in ecology and evolution. It began publication in 2010, and is the youngest journal of the British Ecological Society, which also owns the Journal of Ecology, the Journal of Animal Ecology, the Journal of Applied Ecology, and Functional Ecology. Unlike these publications, Methods in Ecology and Evolution is only available online.

Methods in Ecology and Evolution accepts methodological papers from all areas of ecology and evolution, including statistical and theoretical methods, methods in phylogenetics, and fieldwork methodologies[5], and is available to online subscribers via Wiley Online Library.

As well as publishing research papers, Methods encourages the publication of supplementary material such as computer code, methodological tutorials, and explanatory videos[5]. A regular podcast is produced by the editorial office, in which selected authors are asked to discuss their papers in greater depth.[6].

Methods uses online manuscript submission, and all articles are subject to stringent pre-publication peer review [5].
