Counterexample

In mathematics a counterexample is a specific instance of the falsehood of a general proposition. For example, a counterexample to the proposition "all students are lazy" would be a provable example of a student who is diligent. The existence of even one example which has properties counter to those of the proposition proves its falsehood.
