I believe the following policies and/or guidelines are poorly designed and should be changed as soon as a new consensus can be established.

  • Boldface   The guidelines for using boldface should take into account the length of the text and the amount of text surrounding it. In emphasized text, one or two words of italic text don't stand out very well in the middle of a large paragraph. Bold italic stands out much better. The same holds for actor and character names in Cast sections for films: Bolding names in long character descriptions is a long-standing convention outside of Wikipedia. We should adopt that standard here.
