Journal of Curriculum and Instruction is The Journal of Curriculum and Instruction (JoCI) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that features articles about research, practice, and issues relevant to teaching and learning in the prekindergarten to grade 12 environment. The journal, JoCI, is published by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education, East Carolina University - Greenville, NC USA. It has received the 2010 Edward C. Pomeroy Award for outstanding contributions to teacher education by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). An issue of the journal is published twice each year online and can be accessed free-of-charge at www.joci.ecu.edu The East Carolina University faculty members who initiated the development of this open access journal were motivated by the desire to deliver peer-reviewed professional literature to all members of the education community, including those who could not afford to pay for it. The first issue of JoCI was published in 2007. From August 2007 through August 2010, the six issues of JoCI have been accessed by more than 25,000 individuals from 151 countries/territories. JoCI’s readers include higher education faculty, Pre K-12 teachers, graduate students in education, pre-service teacher education candidates, school administrators, and educational policymakers. Contributors to the journal include researchers and practitioners from Pre K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.
