AnandTech is one of the largest online computer hardware journals in the world with 3 billion impressions and 350,000 unique users per day. AnandTech was founded by then 14-year-old Anand Lal Shimpi in 1997 and has continued to reign as the journal that other journalists read.

Additionally, AnandTech is home to one of the largest forums on the Internet. It boasts more than 120,000 members and more than 17 million message posts. Categories range from computer hardware and software to hot deals and politics, as well as an off topic forum known as "ATOT."

The ability to make comments on articles was added in 2003. As of summer 2005, Anandtech has replaced the old comments system for news and forum posts with a revised system that allows other readers to rate posts in a Slashdot-like manner.

In 2004 AnandTech added a feature to search for computer prices via a price engine developed in house by the senior editor as a graduate project in data mining. This price engine is called RTPE.

In 2006 Anandtech launched a spin-off site called DailyTech, a technology news site.
