Proposals, August 2010

Please check how many articles qualify for a stub type before proposing it.

If (after approval) you create a stub type, please be sure to add it to the list of stub types. This page will be archived in its entirety once all discussions have been closed; there is no need to move them to another page.

NEW PROPOSALS

I think given that the template has almost 300 articels I think this one can be speedied. Waacstats (talk) 12:29, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Support speedy. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:34, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

currently overpopulated I propose we split by Districts of Portugal, 18 templates and as many categories as would make it to 60. Waacstats (talk) 14:18, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Currently overpopulated the following are viable from current templates

'Province' to match current cats. Waacstats (talk) 10:57, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Category is currently overpopulated propose we continue with a split by Regions the following would be needed as 2 already exist

Categories iff there are 60 articles. Waacstats (talk) 10:48, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Category is currently overpopulated propose we continue with a split by districts/unitary authorities, (I know this is not quite ideal given Stockton-on-tees crosses the county border but...) as we have already started I would propose

Categorie iff there are 60 articles. Waacstats (talk) 09:33, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Template: {{dacinae-stub}}. Main category Category:Dacinae. Main article Dacinae. Just shy of 100 articles here. This, in addition to some work I'm just finishing up, will pull the majority of the remaining articles from the former oversized Category:Tephritidae stubs. Dawynn (talk) 19:10, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

It should include sub-catagories: -Sub-quantum/Plank infodynamics -Quantum infodynamics -Physical infodynamics -Atomic infodynamics -Chemical infodynamics -Biochemical infodynamics -Psychological infodynamics -Social infodynamcis -Anthropological infodynamics -Technological infodynamics -AI infodynamics the following two templates have passed the 60 uses mark so speedy propose the respective categories

the following two templates have passed the 60 uses mark so speedy propose the respective categories

Waacstats (talk) 13:10, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

The template {{Fiji-rugbyunion-bio-stub}} has got 60 articles speedy propose the creation of Category:Fijian rugby union biography stubs. Waacstats (talk) 13:07, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

The {{Africa-journalist-stub}} has over 60 articles I speedy propose Category:African journalist stubs. Waacstats (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

The {{Switzerland-athletics-bio-stub}} has over 60 articles I speedy propose Category:Swiss athletics biography stubs. Waacstats (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

The {{England-footy-midfielder-1910s-stub}} has over 60 articles I speedy propose Category:English football midfielder, 1910s birth stubs. Waacstats (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Oversized, The {{Australia-party-stub}} has over 60 articles I speedy propose Category:Australia political party stubs. Waacstats (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Oversized, looks like the following could well be viable

and might be enough to lower it below 800. Waacstats (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Oversized, looks like this one has already been started so propose we continue with pattern of splitting by district templates upmerged to former regions.

split by there regional categories should be enough. Waacstats (talk) 15:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Overisized propose we split by Kantons and Regions possibly upmerged to a Federation of Bosnia and herzegovina and Republic Sprska geo cats.

I suggest you create stub templates for municipalities with 60+ villages in them. The others can use Cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina templates. OK?Starzynka (talk) 21:35, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Propose:

Federation

Republika

Seperate municipality templates for 60+

and any other seperate municipality template for those with 60+:

Starzynka (talk) 21:50, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Maybe best to organize categories by canton also like Category:Populated places in the West Herzegovina Canton and then by municipality.Starzynka (talk) 21:52, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

German state structure templates

Given that there are thousands of articles to transwiki and existing could do with organization:

Dr. Blofeld 11:14, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

No rush for these, but support based on other countries especially if there is going to be a transwiki effort in the future. Waacstats (talk) 15:19, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

The various Hylidae articles were already very well sorted by genus in main categories. Gathering these into subfamily categories allows for some splits amongst the stub categories.

That should go far toward breaking down what had become an overlarge category. Dawynn (talk) 16:15, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Support and we can probably 'find' those extra four articles. Waacstats (talk) 15:17, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

The organization of association football biography stubs loses some value of the categorization process IMO. One clear opportunity for improvement is in the categorization of women's football articles. For example, Category:German football biography stubs includes Claudia Müller and Isabell Bachor. The only existing subcategories in which to classify those players would be their position on the field. However, a German women's football enthusiast might wish to assist in expanding stubs for women's footballers, regardless of position.

I didn't go to the effort to quantify the number of articles for such categories, but hopefully it's self-evident that "lots" of stubs would qualify. Regards, PhilipR (talk) 16:46, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

  • I'm not generally to keen on splitting stub categories by sex but I think this is one of the few areas where there is a massive disparity between the followers of the mens and womens sides. I think that for starters it may be best just to have 1 category as a subcat of Category:Association football biography stubs fed by a generic template {{Women-footy-bio-stub}}? and a few national templates for the larger nations in womens football (Germany, US, China, Norway, Sweden, Brazil) and see how many we have got. I also think it would be an idea to keep them in there current categories where these are more descriptive than the womens category (i.e keeping someone in norwegian midfielder stub cat stays there and goes into the womens cat.)Waacstats (talk) 12:04, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Support what Waacstats suggests - I suspect there are enough American women alone to warrant a separate category. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:27, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad someone understood what I was rambling on about. Waacstats (talk) 15:48, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

actually {{Ourapterygini-stub}}. 97 articles. Will pull from Category:Ennominae stubs and Category:Geometridae stubs. Dawynn (talk) 12:05, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

{{Boarmiini-stub}}. 159 articles. Will pull primarily from Category:Ennominae stubs. Dawynn (talk) 12:05, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I had a look at Category:Darts stubs yesterday; it's not oversized, but even so so many of the stubs are biographical that I think a stub tag is in order. What say y'all? --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:16, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
