DocuWare is the developer of the DocuWare product suite of document management software. Document management software allows users to electronically manage, store and share documents, regardless of format. Industries using this technology include health care, education, financial services, local government, transportation and manufacturing. DocuWare is available in 15 languages.
Product & Services
While the target market is for small and medium sized enterprises, DocuWare products cover: Document Management (DM), Records Management, Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Electronic Archiving, Workflow, Knowledge Management and Web Content Management.
In 2009 Software as a Service (SaaS) became available through their network of authorized DocuWare partners.
Corporate History
Founded
- DOCUNET AG, Germering Germany, founded by Jürgen Biffar and Matthias Fesl (left company in 1998) becomes DocuWare AG in August of 2000. Current leadership is Jürgen Biffar (President/Product & Finance) and Thomas Schneck (since 1980) (President/Marketing & Sales). The product is sold through a worldwide network of authorized DocuWare partners.
- DocuWare Corporation: New York (attends to North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean Islands) subsidiary established January 2001
- DocuWare Ltd: United Kingdom (attends to Great Britain and Ireland) subsidiary established April 2005
- DocuWare SARL: France subsidiary (attends to France and francophone Africa) established September 2008
- DocuWare S.L.: Spain subsidiary (attends to the market in Spain) established July 2009
Product History
- 1988 - Development of DACS-Board (Document Archiving and Communication System) for driving scanners and compressing data
- 1990 - DACS Office - First software solution running on Windows 3.0 to store, search, display and print documents (Windows 3.0: Released May 22, 1990)
- 1992 – DACS Office II Supports Windows 3.1 and OS/2
- 1993 – DocuWare 3.0 - Customizable file cabinets, structure not pre-set; Sending of documents out of DocuWare
- 1993 – DocuWare PRESSMAN
- 1994 – DocuWare COLD/READ
- 1995 – DocuWare 3.1
- 1997 – DocuWare INTERNET SERVER
- 1998 – DocuWare 4.0 - First 32-Bit Version
- 1999 – DocuWare CONNECT to R/3 (First SAP Certification 2001)
- 2000 – DocuWare 4.1 - New TIFFMAKER, contains SQL database as standard Document Management for ASP and DocuWare 4.1a Stamp feature, TIFFMAKER 2000 supports color
- 2001 – DocuWare 4.1a - E-mail Archiving
- 2002 – DocuWare 4.5 - Fulltext indexing as standard feature DocuWare CONTENT-FOLDER (workflow functionality)
- 2003 – DocuWare 4.5b
- 2004 – DocuWare 4.6/4.6a
- 2006 – DocuWare 5.0 - New development based on .NET technology
- 2007 – DocuWare 5.1 - ENTERPRISE SERVER and DocuWare 5.1 with Web Services
