The Design and Technology Academy, nicknamed DATA, is located on the campus of Theodore Roosevelt High School in the North East Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. It opened in the fall semester of 1999 for the 1999-2000 school year (with its first graduating class in 2002, and first full-four year graduating class in 2003). DATA is a magnet school that specializes in designing the future threw: engineering, architecture, web/graphic design, programming and multimedia. The current director is Mrs. Stacia FitzSimon.

The original school web site was colored with beige, blue, and white, but as stated by Dr. Flieger, the first director of DATA, the official school colors are black, silver, and white.

Learning Overview for DATA Students

At the Design and Technology Academy, located on the newly renovated Roosevelt High School campus, any 8th or 9th grade student may apply, with the freshman class each year selected by lottery, producing a diverse student body. Students are provided a college preparatory education within the context of a "school within a school." Students may participate in any extracurricular activities that occur on the Roosevelt campus, and student involvement is encouraged (and many clubs on campus are led by DATA students). 120 hours of community service, a 120 hour career-exploration internship, and a guided senior project (similar to, but simpler than, an undergraduate thesis) are some of the requirements for a DATA graduate.
