OpenStack is a cloud computing project by Rackspace Cloud and NASA joined by several companies such as Citrix Systems, Dell, NTT Data, PEER 1, RightScale, Cloudkick, Zenoss, Limelight, enStratus, Scalr, AMD, Intel, and Spiceworks. It is free open source software released under the terms of the Apache License.

Nova is a cloud computing fabric controller (the main part of an IaaS system). It is written in Python, using the Tornado and Twisted frameworks, and relies on the standard AMQP messaging protocol, and the Redis distributed KVS.

It will have Open Virtualization Format (OVF) support.
