There is another similar notion of an e-net not directly related to probability theory:

An ɛ-net is a set of points in a metric space such that each point of the space is within distance ɛ of some point in the set.

I think this definition is much more common and fundamental.

There is also yet another definition of ɛ-net used in computational geometry and range sets. This seems like an overloaded term. Dcoetzee 17:19, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
