The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore was established in 1984. Its mission is to "strenthen the community by building charitable funds, maximizing benefits to donors, making effective grants, and provide leadership to address community needs."[2]

Annually CFES awards more than $3.3 million in grants and scholarships.[3]

CFES is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization.

Philanthropic Funds

CFES works with individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofit partners to establish funds suited to their philanthropic needs. Available funds are donor-advised, designated, field of interest, scholarship, unrestricted, and agency[4]. Each donor's funds are pooled for investment management purposes to minimize costs and achieve a greater return, therefore making it possible for a smaller individual fund to enjoy the same benefits as a large foundation.
