Computational electromagnetics
Appearance
The computer science that deals with the numerical solution of Maxwell's equations. More accurately referred to as `Computational Electrodynamics'. Most well known are FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) methods, based on the original Yee method. Depending on the problem at hand, it may be more appropriate to partly seek the solution in the spectral domain which leads to PSTD (Pseudo Spectral Time Domain) methods. Recent advances in the field have led to more sophisticated methods such as the one-step Chebyshev method which, however, have limitations of their own.
