Information and Learning Technologies ILT
ILT or Information Learning Technology describes the methods of using technology to enhance the learning experience.
Using ILT
An example of effective ILT might be the use of movies or audio clips in a POWERPOINT presentation to attract the learners' attention. Adding Movies or audio to Powerpoint One of the benefits of ILT is the ability to grab the attention of students, this might be the simple focus of an LCD projection, or a screen, which stimulates a conditioned receptive state in the student. POWERPOINT provides an opportunity to manipulate that receptive state through the use of multimedia. Sound or Movies can cause a very marked change in emotional response, and help set the stage for learning.
Adding Multimedia is very simple in POWERPOINT. If you plan to move the powerpoint and use it on other machines it is best to copy any assets used like movies or audio files into the same folder as the presentation, then when you move the presentation move the whole folder, this way the link to the movie or audio won’t get broken in transit. To add some multimedia select INSERT>MOVIES AND SOUND>MOVIES FROM FILE, Or SOUND FROM FILE A dialogue box will ask if you want the clip or audio to play automatically or when clicked. Select the latter, as it gives more control, and allows the clip to be paused. Run the powerpoint and click on the movie, or audio icon to play the clip.
