The Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service (COATS) is a sub-component of the Canadian Forces Reserve Force made up principally of members of the Cadet Instructors Cadre. General Service officers and non-commissioned members of other branches who have undertaken as their primary duty the supervision, administration and training of cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers may also be part of COATS. They are employed mostly at Regional Cadet Headquarters and during the summer at Cadet Summer Training Centres. This allows them to retain and continue wearing the badging of their former regular or primary reserve force branches.
