The Community Tool Box (CTB) is a free, capacity-building web site that is a public service of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, United States. It is maintained by the Work Group for Community Health and Development at the University of Kansas as well by national entities.[1] The website was created by the Schiefelbusch Institute for Life Span Studies at the university.[2] With over 7,000 pages of information, the Community Tool Box contains detailed guides and aids for problem solving common barriers faced in community development.[1]

Web content and organization

With funding support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and with the dedicated support of a team of 75 translators around the world, the Community Tool Box is now fully available in English and Spanish.[3]

The resources of the Community Tool Box are organized in a user-friendly format. It contains a table of contents which links to 300 subsections pertaining to training people in a variety of skills of work in the community. The table of contents has 46 chapters, which are subdivided into between 3 and 15 sections.
