MATSim is the only open source project that successfully competes with the major commercial traffic simulation packages (all of which have wikipedia pages)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

MATSim is an open-source simulation programme written in Java. Its modules can be used stand-alone or in combination. The simulation controller can be replaced by a custom controller. The modules are

  • demand modelling
  • agent based mobility simulation (traffic flow)
  • re-planing
  • simulation controller
  • output analyzer
