Plant Engineering was a trade publication and web site owned by Reed Business Information serving the information needs of the field of plant engineering and maintenance in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries.

The chief editor was Bob Vavra; the editorial offices were located in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA

Established in 1947, Plant Engineering was published monthly. Common topics included plant engineering, plant management and facility maintenance.

Every November issue, Plant Engineering announced the Product of the Year, an award that had been around for 19 years. In the December issue, they announced the Top Plant, which honors the best manufacturing facilities.

As of December 2006, total BPA audited circulation was 90,900 subscribers.

Trivia

Science Fiction author Gene Wolfe was an industrial engineer and editor of Plant Engineering before devoting his time to writing, the title of his 1984 short story collection Plan[e]t Engineering refers to this.
