About

[edit]

Hi. I'm Moira, a Ph.D. student in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I study the language used in online communities, particularly the way that newcomers talk.

My blog is ThoughtCrumbs.

I've published work on Wikipedia promotion decisions:
Burke, M., and Kraut, R. (2008). Mopping up: Modeling Wikipedia promotion decisions. ACM CSCW 2008: Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work. 27-36.
