Package testing or packaging testing is a qualitative or quantitative procedure that consists of determination of one or more characteristics of a given package, process or service according to a specified procedure. Often this is part of an experiment with a documented test method.

Package testing is often a physical test. With some types of packaging such as food and pharmaceuticals, chemical tests are conducted to determine suitability of food contact materials.
