LiveScript is the old name of JavaScript. Netscape changed the name to reflect some similarities with Java, the Sun language. The unfortunate change proved a source of much confusion. To be short, there is no relation between Java and JavaScript. Their only similarities are some semantics and the fact that both of them can be executed by Web browsers.
