Wikipedia:Don't judge an article by its title
Appearance
![]() | This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
If you don't like an article's title; you should read, check for a neutral point-of-view, and even discuss, assuming good faith, on the article's talk page, the article before deleting or moving the article. Always remember to assume good faith if someone questions your decision.
Rationale
Just as you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, you shouldn't judge an article by it's title. Usually, there is more to every article than meets the eye. Even if it is a short and poorly sourced article, you should give the creator(s) the respect of reading it.
