The Wikipedia Reference Desk is a "virtual" library reference desk at the Wikipedia website, in which visitors ask questions which are answered by volunteers. The Reference Desk pages are editable in the same manner as other Wikipedia pages.

Seven "desks" are present at the Wikipedia Reference Desk:

  1. Computers and IT
  2. Science
  3. Mathematics
  4. Humanities
  5. Language
  6. Entertainment
  7. Miscellaneous

An article published in December 2009 in the Journal of Documentation evaluated the quality of the Wikipedia Reference Desk[1], and found its quality to be comparable to library reference desks staffed by professional librarians, reaching a 55 percent accuracy level.
