Commissary notes were a type of paper money issued by Continental Army soldiers during the Revolutionary War. They were known as commissary notes because they were most commonly used by the commissary quartermaster, who would take supplies needed for the army to survive and pay using commissary notes. Commissary notes had no real value unless the Continentals won against the British.
