Hub and Die Errors are errors in the coin hub or coin die. There are many different kinds of hub and die errors. To understand the kinds of errors that may occur, it is important to understand the minting process (particularly the manufacture of dies, planchettes and the striking of coins). The die manufacturing process is described in detail at Coin Die.
