An OCR SDK is a Software Development Kit for developers adding OCR technology into software applications, OCR SDK provide methods for incorporating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology into forms processing applications, document imaging management system, e-discovery system, or records management solution to extract some parts or all of the texts from scanned and faxed document images.

In order to avoid the difficulties of incorporating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, some OCR SDK contains a lot of APIs (like ExperVision's OpenRTK contains about 120 APIs), multi Operating Systems support, and multi Programming Language support. As the OCR SDKs become more mature, incorporating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology into diverse applications will become easier.
