Building code
Appearance
A building code is a set of laws that specify how buildings should be constructed. Typically these laws are municipal, but most U.S. counties also have codes. These codes include specifications on components, installation methodologies, overall results, and qualification of individuals or corporations doing the work.
Building codes have a long history. Early historical examples of a building code include a city setting a height limit that no new buildings could be higher than an existing (usually famous) structure.
Building codes are typically enforced by a special enforcement organization.
