Simple username changes

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions
  1. Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
    • Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
    • Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
    • Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
    • Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
  2. Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
  3. Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
  4. Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Place your request here.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=.
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
    • Do not change anything else.
  6. Select Publish changes.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any inquiries regarding your request. Consider watching the page so you can monitor updates. Requests may be closed if there are unresolved queries.

Requests that do not follow these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

For stewards, global renamers, and clerks

Only stewards and global renamers have the authority to approve or decline requests. Requests are automatically clerked by a bot, but occasionally human intervention is required, particularly for malformed requests. If you would like to help out with clerking, please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance.

Bureaucrat note: Great. Even I can understand that! Please just claim the SUL using the pt: account (it's in the "my preferences" menu in English - look at the top of the screen). When that's done, let me know and I'll do the change. --Dweller (talk) 16:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I confirm. WikiTrovão (talk) 18:56, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's been nearly two weeks, and you have not yet claimed the SUL account by going to pt:Especial:MergeAccount and following the instructions there. Once that's done, we can rename your account here. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:55, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Liam9976 → Super2010

Matthewhicks93 → Stewart Gilligan Griffin

Clerk note: clerk I removed the quotation marks from the old name as they do not exist as part of the registered name and also from the new name on presumption of writing style by the requester.
As such i found that the requested username, Stewart Gilligan Griffin, is already registered; see Special:Listusers. However, as this requested account has made no edits, it meets the criteria for being usurped; if you wish to usurp it, please read and follow the process at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Generally, users requesting to usurp an account must be established editors. If you do not wish to seek leave to usurp the username, please choose another name to be renamed to. delirious & lost~hugs~ 19:20, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

S Q → Saqib Qayyum

I wanna transfer my edits to target account. --Saqib talk 08:18, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: Can you post (from the "Saqib Qayyum" account) confirmation that both accounts are owned by the same person? Also, the "Saqib Qayyum" account has more edits than "S Q" does; can you not just cease using the current account? (there's no way to merge the two accounts together; you'd be renamed, but the existing 932 edits would not still be attributed to the "Saqib Qayyum" name) EVula // talk // // 17:40, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I wanna attribute edits, I made using User: S Q to requested username User:Saqib Qayyum.--Saki talk 18:00, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: If you're asking for another account's edits to be reattributed with your current account, it is not possible. Edits cannot be reattributed without renaming. (X! · talk)  · @893  ·  20:25, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So then rename it, both accounts belong to me. --Saki talk 12:31, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: I think you are misunderstanding how this works. There is no way to merge the edits into one account. The software itself does not allow that to be done. You are free to use one account or the other, but the edits made under each account can not be merged. This is a technical limitation of the Mediawiki software. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:09, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wexeb → Martín Coba Pulido

Clerk note: clerk This would appear to be a rename in another language and having the corresponding English account here renamed based on this page move log from PTWP. Also see pt:Wikipedia:Renomeação_de_conta#Wexeb_.E2.86.92_Mart.C3.ADn_Coba_Pulido The pt:User:Wexeb account was re-created on PTWP after the rename was done there per the usual impersonation reasons. This user's home wiki was PTWP before the rename there detached his home wiki from the Wexeb SUL. According to the PTWP rename the user is changing from an anonymous name to his real name. My Portuguese is not great but i am pretty sure on this.
Also this user is blocked on ESWP as a sockpuppet but my Spanish is not good enough to read all of that. It seems to have something to do with a comment on a YouTube account and the user name "Wexeb" appearing in various places on the web and different eswp users claiming it to be themselves. [2] But then this user is blocked as the sockpuppet of a different user on Commons. [3]. Yet that user that Wexeb is accused of being a sockpuppet of is not blocked on Commons. It might be handy to have someone who is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and has access to deleted pages and CU logs review this on a cross-wiki level. From what i comprehend of the languages and with a little help from Google Translate this seems to have the potential for being a huge mix up. delirious & lost~hugs~ 23:24, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pirocom → Pirocom

Pirocom (talk) 07:33, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat note: You are requesting the same username you already have. You'll need to provide a different username if you want to change yours. Useight (talk) 14:50, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Buggie111 → Four Tildes (except in symbolic format)

Thanks, I have been wondering about that. Buggie111 (talk) 17:40, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

B.hygate → Bhygate.fortunecity.com

Not done. Promotional usernames are against policy. I'm allowing your current username, as it appears to be a name. Be aware, though, that your userpage may not be used promotionally, as per another policy, or it may be deleted. Useight (talk) 18:41, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

-- -- -- → 1 2 3 4

Clerk note: clerkThis name was already approved as a rename by Avi. See the previous rename in the archive. I also clerked that. Personally, i feel that if a bureaucrat approves the rename to User:-- -- -- it is a bit much for an admin to then block the user and force a 2nd rename. Nowhere in WP:USERNAME does it state that -- -- -- is a violation. A non-English user name is hardly reason to block someone. It is Morse code for "M M M". delirious & lost~hugs~ 21:07, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • User's response: Thank you, Avi and delirious & lost. I agree with you wholheartedly. However, I am not looking to put up a fight. I will let the bureaucrats decide on an appropriate username. -- -- -- 21:58, 26 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by -- -- -- (talkcontribs)
  • Follow-up comment: It is the lack of any links in your signature that is causing the greatest concern. Without any links it simply appears to be a typo. As you can see from above, SineBot is following you around Wikipedia marking all of your signatures as "unsigned comment added by -- -- --" so that other people will know it is a valid user name and not a typo. This general comment is now in a few places with the hope that you will see one of them. The other problem was the type of linking that JC and myself used at the top of your talk page. I didn't realise that it would imply a bureaucrat had issue with your new user name once the rename had been done. I'm sorry.delirious & lost~hugs~ 01:30, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kids Help Phone → KHP Helper

OrGuttman → אור גוטמן

Clerk note:Well, if you have logged in as the new name, even accidentally, that means you can use it; since you don't seem to have many edits under this name, why not just switch to the Hebrew name yourself? You can't "bump off" an account by renaming to it, if that's what you want; you would still have to rename אור גוטמן to something new if you renamed OrGuttman to אור גוטמן. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 21:20, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
