Qomolangma
Appearance
Qomolangma, which in Tibetan means "mother goddess of the earth", is the name given by Tibetans to the peak known as Mount Everest. Qomolangma is pronounced as Chomolangma and is usually spelled as such on English maps of the peak that show the Tibetan name.
According to Chinese records, the Tibetans named the peak in the 17th century and was recorded as such on the Atlas of the Whole Imperial Territory of 1719 and 1721.
