The Diamond Five was a dedicated word processor developed by a subsidiary of The Marconi Company in the late seventies. It cost ~£4500 and was intended for technical authoring and secretarial use.

Capabilities

The screen was large enough to display an A3-size document. An included daisy-wheel printer was attached by a non-user removable cable. Two 8-inch floppy disk drives were used for the storage of programs and files. The displayed font was not user-customisable. A RS232 interface allowed communcation with other contemporary computers (e.g. a Lucas Nascom 2) using homebrew software . It used a Z80 processor.

It was replaced by the Diamond Seven.
