Digital Image Processing refers to the study of algorithms applied to digital images. The field of pattern recognition is tied with this field when the patterns to be identified are in images.

A subfield of Digital Image Processing is Binary Image processing. Some algorithms applied in this field are classified as Morphological Image Processing
