Binary code, it the use of 0's and 1's that a computer uses, 0 means their is an electrical current 1 means no electrical current. each 0 or 1 is one bit. eight bits = one byte, one byte is usually a character you will need to know ASCII Equivelants by looking at a ASCII Table to translate to of from binary.
